CODE FIVE is an intimate, emotionally charged drama about trauma, memory and survival. The play explores what happens after the headlines disappear and the survivors are left to live with what they experienced. Directed by Brian Cox of PencilPoint TheatreWorks and featuring Marc Holland and Camille Woods. Tickets are $12. Get tickets online or at the door.

Barnstormers Revue

Join Barnstormers Revue co-founders Cydney Marie and Marlowe Martinez for an afternoon of skill-sharing, community building, and ensemble co-creation. Each month focuses on a different topic or technique. Upcoming playgrounds October 18 and November 15. All are welcome to stay for a BSR members meeting following the workshop.

Cold Reads, New Plays

Each month actors read a new/orginal work for the stage. A talkback follows each reading. This month’s play is Kidney Contingency by the late Eric Bloch. Hosted by Catherine Zudak, Pass the Hat Promotions, produced by Wendy Ascione-Juska. The next Cold Reads is October 25th (This Game Show Kills Billionaires by Nathan Corliss).

Welcome Josephine!
Josephine Rood is our newest Forge Member! She is a playwright, poet and photographer in Ann Arbor. Her full-length play, Cafe Indigo, was read in workshop by PencilPoint TheatreWorks. She's had short plays, including Far Away, the Sea, Man Does Tree, Woman Does Fish, Perils of Peggy Primrose, produced in festivals at A2CT, Forge Theater, and the Detroit Fringe. She is active in the Washtenaw Democratic Party and founder of Fifth From the Left Playwrights. She hopes to bring back a version of Bake Off, a popular play writing prompt and reading event.

Andy Fillmore performed as Jupiter Hollow recently at the Ann Arbor Pride Festival, catch a glimpse of her performance HERE. Jupiter Hollow can next be seen on Sunday, September 13th at Five15 in Royal Oak, competing in the first ever Miss Michigan Comedy Queen pageant! More information on that event can be found HERE. Then, in October, she'll appear in EMU Theatre's production of Mary Zimmerman's Metamorphoses, complete with an on-stage pool! More information HERE.
Brian Cox's (PencilPoint TheatreWorks) latest children's play, Flimflam and the Emperor's New Cloak, was recently published by Pioneer Drama Service. The play is a re-imagining of the fairy tale Emperor's New Clothes and incorporates elements of the TV show, Law & Order. It's Brian's third published children's play, including Stone Dragon Stew and Welcome to Candy Kingdom. His plays have been produced all over the country in more than 30 states, as well as internationally.
Bruce Morey was thrilled to act this summer in the 24th Edition of Shakespeare in the Arboretum, a joint production of the UofM Residential College and the Matthei Botanical Gardens. This year he was honored to play the part of Holofernes in Love's Labor's Lost. Starting Wednesday, September 9, he will return to hosting the weekly A2CT Theatre Arts Lab. More information is HERE.
Catherine Zudak (Pass the Hat Promotions) has a full-length play, Crazy, Dead Spies being read on Sunday, September 20, by the Dunes Summer Theatre as part of their new play festival, Voices from the Heartland. The play follows the comic misadventures of Missy Wilde as she goes up against a shadowy spy master and a long lost love.
Cydney Marie (Barnstormers Revue) traveled to Brazil this summer to study theatre of the oppressed, including doing theatre in prisons and favelas, and teaching workshops using theatre to explore topics like trauma informed practice and decarceration. Cydney taught a workshop at the Pedagogy and Theatre of the Oppressed conference in July and used TO to explore carceral logics in mental health interventions. Cydney has a show coming up at Matrix Theatre (Detroit) in October. More details coming soon!
John Ardussi (Gatebreakers Studios) released a CD on BandCamp and now streaming on Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon Music as well as others. All I Wanna Do As Play Games, by Perky Pete and the Game Mechanics, is the soundtrack for a web series in development, GAME MECHANICS. The show is a comedy/drama about a struggling game development company, the people trying to keep it alive.
Jonny Boeger is back in the saddle again, competing in the Equus Nobilis Jousts at the Great Camelot Ren Faire in Ohio and Indiana. Jon will be leading more classes this fall at Forge in stage combat and hopes to develop a play featuring lots of it.
Nathan Corliss appeared on the book club podcast Reads and Weeds in May, where guests read scenes from an early draft of his script Cult of Dad, which follows a hapless romantic who inherits his father's cult, including his three wives. Nathan will be appearing on the D&D podcast 2ManyDice later this year as a guest character and then a dungeon master. He hosts trivia at The Session Room on Mondays, Red Rock BBQ on Tuesdays, and Relish Restaurant on Thursdays.
Nicolas Shannon Savard will be heading to Ohio this fall. They are teaching introduction to acting at their alma mater. We hope to see them back in Ann Arbor after the new year. In the meantime, check out Nicolas' podcast, Gender Euphoria. The Podcast is a series of conversations between trans and queer theatre artists. The show amplifies the voices of trans and queer performers, writers, designers, educators, and community organizers from across the United States, from every corner of the performing arts-we are everywhere!
Patricia Mazzola is enjoying a well earned rest after choreographing three shows for A2CT in 2025-26, Spring Awakening, She Kills Monsters, and 1776. Patty is now focusing on facility improvements at A2CT, as well as her continued facility support at Forge Theater. She is also doing some research and editing for a local screenwriter.
