Submissions of new and original work are being accepted April 1, 2026 to May 17, 2026.
Submission Guidelines
Forge Theater is seeking new and original work by area playwrights and performing artists, for Playing Around, July 23 to July 26, 2026.

Work must be created by the author(s) without the use of AI.

Author(s) have sole rights to produce the work.

Work has been revised at least once, rather than a first or rough draft.

Work has never been fully staged or produced elsewhere (Prior readings are encouraged.)

Submissions are limited to one full-length or two shorter works (one acts or 10 minute plays).

Submissions are in a standard play format (See Yale Drama Series, Dramatists Guild or formatting software like Final Draft or free software like Beat for Mac or Trelby for PC).

We aren't accepting musicals at this time.

Submissions may also be considered for Forge Theater's monthly play development workshop, Cold Reads, New Plays.
Production Schedule
April 1 to May 17 - Submissions accepted.
April 30 to May 15 - Director recruitment.
May 18 to May 31 - Submissions read and reviewed.
June 1 - Play selections announced.
June 7 & 8 - Auditions
June 15 to July 23 - Rehearsal period (3 to 5 rehearsals for each play)
June 19 - Tickets go on sale ($15/GA).
